This chayote variety has prickles on it and it is HUGE and HEAVY. Chayote is a vigorous vine that can withstand some cold spells. The vines die back to the ground then start again.
We are going to allow this to grow on our fence and plan on replacing it in a few years since it is vulnerable to root knot nematodes.
Notice that the seed germinates INSIDE the fruit.
