One of my carrot plots had gotten very infested with artillery fern (used as a houseplant up north!) and decided to pull everything out and plant bush lima beans (crop rotation here... root -to- legume).
We harvested from this bed all winter long so we were very surprised to have three gallons of carrots hiding in the plot. Rinse off outside then package up into zip bags. We don't do the final wash until we are ready to prepare/serve.
Read here how we planted the carrot seeds last fall.
After harvest the plot was then turned under with a large bag of rabbit manure then planted with Early Thorogreen bush lima beans that will tolerate the summer heat which is quickly approaching.
