Collier County Annual Educational Garden Workshop Series

The ten week 2018 Series will again be held at the beautiful venue at Unity of Naples, 2000 Unity Way, and will begin on Thursday, January 11, from 10:00AM- 11:30AM. Our schedule has a variety of speakers with diverse subjects sure to please the Garden Enthusiast.



Pulling Weeds and Planting Seeds, Safety in your home garden. Thursday, January 11th, 10:00AM-11:30AM
We welcome back an old time series favorite: Bob Cook, a Florida Certified Horticulture Professional. Bob will discuss the pleasures of gardening safely and the potential perils of working outdoors.

Flowering Trees, Thursday, January 18, 10:00AM-11:30AM
Brian Galligan, Naples Botanical Garden Director of Horticulture, will speak about one of his passions, "Flowering Trees." Brian Galligan returns to the series to discuss how Flowering Trees can enhance your Southwest Florida garden.

Up on the Roof, Thursday, January 25, 10:00AM-11:30AM
Brian Bovard, Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies, FGCU. Brian will introduce the audience to the environmental benefits of rooftop gardening. He will highlight a joint FGCU/Naples homeowner’s ongoing rooftop project and how you might do your own.

Andrienne Potter Diaz, "Miss Potter's Place". Adrienne brings her enthusiasm to our Workshop Series to speak on how you can maximize a small space vegetable garden and provide tips on successful vegetable gardening in the Southwest Florida environment.

Diary of a Master Gardener, Thursday, February 8, 10:00AM-11:30AM
Learn what veteran gardeners know and apply this knowledge to your own garden experience with veteran Collier County Master Gardener, Chris Gilbert. Chris and his gardening interests have carried through his amazing career in the Boston area. He started his TV career as Production Assistant for the Public Television Gardening Classic The Victory Garden, then went on to produce and direct the first commercially syndicated Gardening Series, The Joy of Gardening. Throughout his Emmy Award winning career he has worked with many well known “How To” personalities including Bob Vila and Martha Stewart. Now he shares his passion for gardening and landscape design with anyone who will listen.
