Pigeon Peas




Pigeon Peas.

We are growing a BUSH variety instead of the TREE variety. The plants got cut back just before IRMA and regrew nicely in their pots. 

Pigeon Peas in Sticky Rice Recipe

Soak for at least an hour in the pot you want to cook them in:
  • 1 cup medium grain rice (white)
  • 1.25 cup water
  • handful of pigeon peas (can be dry or fresh)
  • large pinch of dried, ground moringa
Bring water to a boil.
Cover and reduce to a low simmer for 15 minutes. Do not lift lid.
Turn OFF burner and sit for at least 25 minutes. Do not lift lid until ready to eat. 
Serve as is or season with hot sauce, soy sauce, gravy, rice vinegar... differently for every meal.
