Canna (not edible)
Freshly dug canna bulbs/tubers for sale.
Canna care is almost exactly the same as bananas. They do get a caterpillar on them from time to time. IF the caterpillar damage is severe, a quick spray of Bt will kill them. Lower leaves turn brown just like a banana and are trimmed only for beauty sake. They love water and fertilizer. The spent flowering stems should be cut down to 6 inches or less to allow new buds to grow. Starting this year, I will be yanking the spent canna plant, root/tuber and all, to avoid dividing them in the future. Similar to digging out extra banana plants. These were dug up so I could move them to a new location, they blocked my view of the rest of the garden.
