Baby Romaine: my new favorite lettuce

The variety is called "Baby Romaine", it is NOT Romaine harvested at baby stage. I grew both side-by-side so I know this to be a fact.

These soft leaves have the best parts of Romaine (upright, heading, and easy to clean) and baby leaf lettuce (tender and tasty).

Planting lettuce
Lettuce is one of the few seeds that needs light to germinate. Do not plant seeds too deep in other words. Very easy to grow in cooler weather. The plants took a pretty strong frost we had last week without any damage. (We did make sure to water them well before the frost so they stayed warm.) Our lettuce is succession planted in pots in October, November, December, January, February, and March for a continual harvest. Plants are fertilized monthly with a slow release 10-10-10 and amended with blood meal which is high in nitrogen which promotes leave growth.

My new favorite.
