Goal: Researching other squash/pumpkins to grow at the same time as Seminole Pumpkin without cross pollinating with it.
Enlightenment: Only the same SPECIES will cross pollinate and produce seed.
Edible Species:
- Cucurbita maxima
- Cucurbita mixta
- Cucurbita moschata
- Cucurbita pepo
- Cucurbita ficifolia
Example #1: Plant Cucurbita moschata Seminole Pumpkin near Cucurbita moschata Calabaza and they probably will cross pollinate.
Example #2: Plant Cucurbita moschata Seminole Pumpkin near Cucurbita ficifolia Chilacayote and they might cross pollinate and produce fruit however there will be no seeds in the fruit.
Local Sakata Seed tells me that they have managed to cross C. moschata with C. maxima but as of yet I have not gotten a reply on how they did it.

Below is the book that enlightened me and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It lists many, many varieties of squash in all the above categories. The only thing I ignore is the plant dates for the South East because it is not accurate for Tropical South Florida.
