Click here for a Grow A Gardener Inc fact sheet about solarizing.

It's that time of the year to be thinking if you will plant summer/tropical crops this summer or solarize to kill root knot nematodes.

We have a LIMITED amount of solarization film for this year. The film is a 4-year greenhouse film, clear, 10 feet wide, 6 mil thick, that is UV resistant. UV resistant means that the UV rays will pass through it, however the plastic will not break into a million pieces by the end of the summer. Since we are using this on the ground it may or may not last 4 years. We have used ours for two years now. The thick plastic that you can buy at big box stores does not last the entire summer and falls apart into tiny shards that we had to literally vacuum out of the garden.

Price? $3 per linear foot. The roll is 10 feet wide so one foot of film is 10 foot by 1 foot. An average garden bed is 4 x 8 so you would need 5 feet x 10 feet and it would be $15.

Pickup is in Lehigh. Email me to set up a meeting and confirm we still have film left.
