Plant, plant, plant.

Keep planting! Cold requirement crops are perfect right now such as lettuce, beets, cabbage, broccoli, kohlrabi, spinach, carrots, collards, cilantro, kale, radishes, peas, and rutabaga.

Beginner gardener?

Stay away from cauliflower, long day onions, irish potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Just trust me on this one. Be sure to READ the seed packet, if you are planting seeds.

Buying plants?

CHECK FOR INSECTS before buying. Look UNDER the leaves too. The grower takes very good care of your plants but the big box store just waters them.

Planting store bought plants.

Never PULL a plant from its pot. Turn the pot and the plant upside down (support it so you don't dump it on the ground) and tap the bottom with your hand or a trowel until it separates from the pot.

Rotate Crops.

As I harvest, I replant with a different plant and rotate my crops: fruit, legume, root, leaf. Not in any special order, just mix them up. Rotate crops so that disease, insects, and nutrients stripped from the soil from the current crop are not affecting the next crop.
