It grows very well in fact. AND its needs are few. I highly recommend growing mint in pots and keeping track of where the plant meanders to. It is invasive and has taken over one of my beds to continue growing in the lawn. Now I keep mint under control by growing in tall pots. Consider having them live near a taller sprinkler head so they get plenty of irrigation. Start with a good potting soil mix and lightly fertilize occasionally and you will not go wrong. Mint does not like summer full sun so if you place the pots in a South position over the winter, move them in summer to a shadier place.
Making tea. When the mint spills over the pot and touches the ground, it is time to give it a hair cut before it sets roots in your lawn. Trim stems to 2-3". Remove brown leaves then snip the leaves and stems in short pieces. Pour boiling water over. If you like your tea strong, let it steep for 5-7 minutes. If you like it weak, steep for 2-3 minutes.
