Let's talk cabbage.

Cabbage is one of two plants every South Florida Gardener should be growing.

Golden Acres variety. Three cabbages to a 7-gallon pot on drip irrigation. Fertilized with composted rabbit manure in the soil mix plus 10-10-10 slow release monthly. Organic Control Bt Bacillus Thuringiensis sprayed as needed when caterpillars arrived.

Soon to be dinner.

Quarter for scale.

I cut the head off leaving some of the core on the plant. Each circled bud will grow a new cabbage head!

Beautiful if I do say so myself.

Save your cores for soup! Either to make a vegetable broth base or as an ingredient.

There is still time to plant cabbage and harvest before it gets hot.
