Winter's FAILURES

No one is perfect and I will be the first to admit it. Here are our winter garden failures.
  • Onion sets. Most rotted in the ground.
  • Perennial peanut experiment. They want full sun and did not work as a ground cover in the shade of taller plants.
  • Cardboard as a ground cover. The cardboard took off the first good wind we had even though it was thoroughly anchored with landscape pins.
  • Spinach, beet greens and swiss chard. Planted this five times and it never worked. I did feel better when I saw it at Lowes and it looked just as bad as in my garden.
  • Melons and cucumbers (until now). They grew a few inches then stopped.
